Episode #162 – Brock Boeser & The Spooky Kids

Ep162

It’s Halloween week and the Arizona Coyotes are winless … all while the Vancouver Canucks are looking great against legitimate foes.

Ryan, Geeta and P Mac join us this week to discuss an impressive Canucks road trip, Brock Boeser, Bo Horvat and Sven Baertschi’s coming out party vs Washington and Anders Nilsson’s impressive efforts in his selected starts.

They discuss Erik Gudbranson’s injury scare, P Mac talks to Brock Boeser after the game and is impressed with his confidence and positive mindset with his young teammates.

Vadim Shipachyov has refused to report to the AHL’s Chicago Wolves, wants a trade, out of Vegas and to play legitimate NHL minutes. Will he wind up traded in time or will he head back to Russia and the KHL?

The Arizona Coyotes are winless in 11 games to start the season, the worst start in 74 years in the NHL and there are serious problems mounting with the unorganized franchise in the desert.

They also discuss the Tampa Bay Lightning’s incredible success, Mario Tremblay’s claims of Alex Galchenyuk allegedly spending the summer in rehab for drug or alcohol abuse.

Episode #161 – Carey Price’s Lonely End Of The Rink

Ep161

Derek Dorsett is scoring more goals than the Montreal Canadiens and the Arizona Coyotes and that is a cause for concern… not for Canucks fans though!

Another full bench this week as Ryan, Dave, Geeta and P Mac get together to discuss the Vancouver Canucks’ up and down season, Derek Dorsett’s newly found offensive abilities, their injured defence and big Jake Virtanen playing the role of Jason King with the Sedin twins.

They also discuss the possibility of a new home ice advantage for the Vegas Golden Knights, as they keep winning the same type of games and their opponents keep looking sluggish and tired for about 45 minutes of the game. Will the Vegas novelty wear off? Or will the Golden Knights make the playoffs thanks to the hangovers of the stars of the NHL.

Finally, the gang discusses the problems in Montreal, their goaltending problems and the inability to give Carey Price some run support. What will happen to that team? Will heads roll? Or will we see another year of the same ol same ol in Montreal?

Enjoy!

Episode #160 – City With No Chaput

Ep160

The Canucks are struggling, they can’t score goals, so they go to the farm and welcome back a familiar face and a favourite of former Coach Willie D.

Another full bench at Geeta’s palatial estate this week on a rainy Monday evening in Vancouver as Dave, Geeta, P Mac and Ryan discuss the slumping Vancouver Canucks. Their ice cold power play, extremely early season injuries and just who new head coach Travis Green and Jim Benning thought would be the best fit with the club.

They also discuss the mayoral election happening in Calgary during the recording that would likely decide the fate of the Flames’ new arena and discuss the worrisome yet winning Toronto Maple Leafs. Can Auston keep scoring goals every game to help his messy defence out?

The Vegas Golden Knights’ get Malcom Subban his first NHL win, against his former club, their Twitter gets them in hot water, and they’re off to a great start this season… but for how long!?

Finally, the gang gets into a HEATED debate about the Olympics, the NHL not going to the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, the chances of them going to the 2022 games and the NHL’s World Cup of Hockey. This was a good one!

Enjoy!

Episode #159 – Travis Green’s Brass Bonanza

EP159

Hat tricks. EVERYWHERE! The first week of the 2017/18 NHL season was an eventful one. Four hat tricks scored on team’s opening nights, but more incredible: The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Edmonton Oilers, and left McDavid off the scoresheet.

Geeta, P Mac, Dave & Ryan join you this week. They’re talking about hat tricks, Ovechkin’s return to goal scoring superstardom and the Chicago Blackhawks lighting up the defending Stanley Cup Champions for TEN goals!

Ryan discusses his encounters with Edmonton Oilers fans on opening night at Rogers Arena, and discusses Travis Green’s first NHL win against the Oilers. They discuss Derek Dorsett’s new role, the controversial decision to sit Brock Boeser and the limited role for the Sedins… at least during this game.

They also discuss the ongoing arena problems in Calgary and how the situation has turned oddly political and they share their mutual love and admiration for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the early season excitement around the New Jersey Devils!

Episode #158 – Into The Great Wide Open – ’17/18 NHL Season Preview

ep158

The 2017/18 NHL Season is here and there’s a full bench to break down the new rules in the NHL and which teams to watch this season!

Ryan, Dave, P Mac and Geeta discuss the Pucks on net 10, ten teams to watch through out the season for good, bad, and ugly reasons. Who will make a charge for the Stanley Cup? Who will remain in the cellar? And which team will go from the outhouse to the penthouse?

They also discuss the new offside coach’s challenge rule changes, as well as how NHL referees will be calling slashing this season. A problem that plagued the league last season, especially in the playoffs.

Finally, Jaromir Jagr has a new home in Calgary! Will the beloved grizzled veteran help put the Flames over the top this year? Or just help sell tickets, #68 jerseys and mullet wigs?

The song played at the end of this episode is ‘Wildflowers’ by Tom Petty off his 1994 solo album ‘Wildflowers’. He passed away Monday, October 2nd 2017 shortly after this episode was recorded and it’s hard to find someone who’s life wasn’t affected by Tom Petty’s music.
