Episode #87 – Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kyte!

Ryan is alive and the podcast is back on the air, but the long NHL season has it’s down periods and late November is certainly one of them.

Ryan and Geeta get together this week to talk about Ryan’s gallbladder surgery and subsequently all the hockey he’s watched this week while recovering, the handsome Dallas Stars and the floundering Anaheim Ducks, who are just one former 2011 Vancouver Canuck away from success. Christian Ehrhoff perhaps?

Dhiren Mahiban (New York Times, VICE Sports, The Hockey News) joins us from Toronto to talk about the Maple Leafs season, their goaltending situation and the unfortunate injury of James Reimer. He also touches on some potential trades and the curious case of Frank Corrado.

They also talk about the twitter tiff between former NHL goon Jim Kyte and Montreal Canadiens’ assistant captain Brendan Gallagher, who’s honour and integrity was questioned by Jim. They look at how the game has changed and how Gallagher came out looking like gold.

Friend of the show Brady Strachan (CBC News) joins the program as well. As our resident Winnipeg Jets aficionado, he looks at the problems facing the Jets right now and if they will resign Ladd and Big Buff, or move ’em for sexy sexy picks at the trade deadline. He also chimes in on the other Canadian teams who are all facing hard times this year.

Episode #86 – Sex, Lies and Hockey Tape

Travis Hamonic wants a trade to Western Canada, Patrick Marleau wants one to a contender and we can’t decide if Willie is a good coach or not.

Ryan, Geeta and Dave are here this week to talk about what’s going on in the NHL right now. P Mac skype’s in, despite crippling illness to chime in on Travis Hamonic and if he could wind up on the Canucks.

They also talk about Patrick Kane’s bounce back year following his awful summer and how it could mean bad press for the NHL, similar to Tom Brady and the NFL.

They look at the revamped NHL All-Star Game, whether Willie D should stay on as the Vancouver Canucks head Coach or if they should replace him if they plan to make the playoffs.

Finally, the gang talks about Major Junior hockey in Canada, British Columbia and the influence the Penticton Vees have on the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Really fun podcast this week,

Episode #85 – Five For Fighting

The Canucks can’t play a whole game and it’s starting to show in the standings. Ryan Miller doesn’t seem to be biting his tongue anymore.

Geeta, P Mac and Ryan are with you this week to discuss the problems the Canucks are facing. Unable to lock up games against the Buffalo Sabres and not showing up a Wednesday nighter vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Connor McDavid gets hurt and it has all types of religious undertones. McJesus rises at Christmas? Oh reallllly!

They also look at the Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2015 and the flood of inductees in recent years. Should they change the voting or entry process? Should there be mess members inducted each year?

Ryan and Paul get into (civilly) the great debate in hockey regarding fighting. Do you remove it from the game or do you keep with tradition and the way the game has been for

The Canucks’ kids are sticking with the big club! Get ready for all those Hansen and Higgins trade proposals on twitter!

Full bench on the podcast this week as we record from the Pacific Coliseum. We’re talking about Jared McCann and Jake Virtanen earning their way on to the Canucks roster and talking about the Canucks’ recent road games and struggles in Dallas, including the Nickelback troll job by the Stars’ DJ.

They’re also talking about ongoing problems in Brooklyn with obstructed seating and how the Coyotes could return their old arena in Phoenix, which was the king of bad sight lines!

They also are talking about a slightly injured Carey Price, what can be done to salvage the Anaheim Ducks’ 2015/16 season and having a lot of fun chatting about selfish Jamie Benn’s habits with the opposite sex.
